Super Eagles and Villarreal forward, Samuel Chukwueze has expressed his joy over getting his home debut in Nigeria’s goalless draw against Uganda on Tuesday in Asaba.
Chukwueze who played 45 minutes in the match says he was overwhelmed with the reception given to him by the crowd.
‘It was a wonderful moment for me and my family as I played my 1st home match. It was a very proud moment for me, a moment I dreamt of as a kid. I was also very overwhelmed by the reception I got by the fans. Each time I touched the ball, or made a dribble. That was wonderful.’ Chukwueze told Diegwusports.com
The forward who has been the revelation of the season in LA Liga, also said that he was happy to have played a role in Nigeria’s qualification to the AFCON 2019 and said he is looking forward to the tournament.
‘As a kid I watched the Super Eagles play at various AFCON tournaments and I know how much it means to us as a nation. To be part of the team that helped qualify the country to the tournament after a while gives me great joy. I am looking forward to the tournament, 1st I have to refocus on my performance at club level and get selected for the tournament. If I get selected, it will be an honor.’
Chukwueze went on to talk about his season so far in LA Liga. The forward believes his team Villarreal can end in the top 4 in LA Liga.
‘So far, it’s been a wonderful season but for the club and for myself. We would like to keep the run going for as long as we can. Am very positive that we will make the top 4.’
