Rangers International head coach Olugbenga Ogunbute has apologized to the fans after his sides shock 0-2 defeat to Etoile du Sahel at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, leaving the Flying Antelopes chances of qualification on the balance.
Ogunbute while speaking exclusively to DiegwuSports.com after the match took full admitted that his sides where 2nd best throughout the match and could have done better.
“1st of all I have to apologise to the fans for the the disappointing result, we let them down and we take full responsibility for the performance today. We were not good enough all day long and our boys didnot play like they use to. We also were naive defensively and we paid dearly today for it.”
Goals in either half from Maher Hannachi and Iheb Msakni ensured that the Flying Antelopes succumbbed to back to back defeats in this year’s Confederation Cup but Ogunbute insists that Rangers still have their destiny in their hands and can still qualify for the knockout stages.
“We still have our destiny in our own hands. Yes today’s defeat is a huge setback but i still strongly believe we can qualify. It starts with our performance next Sunday against Salitas in Burkina Faso. If we play to our strengths, I am very sure we can get a result.”
With the back to back defeats Rangers are now 3rd on the log on 4 points, one point from 2nd placed CS Sfasien who visit bottom placed Salitas later tonight.
