The chairman of the League Management Company (LMC), Mallam Shehu Dikko has disclosed that the NFF are targeting to win the Championship for African Nations CHAN come 2020.
Dikko who said this while speaking exclusively with DiegwuSports.com believes that wining the CHAN will reflect the progress which has been made in the NPFL in recent years.
‘The last time we had our best finish in CHAN which was reaching the final, this time around we want to go a step further this time around by winning the trophy.’
However, the LMC chief went on to say that the most important thing is to give the players exposure and get players who can step up to the Super Eagles.
‘The most important thing is to give the players exposure and then give them a platform to push for a place in the Super Eagles. Let’s not forget that the main objective of the CHAN is to give players who might not get a chance to play for their National teams because of the foreign based players a platform to showcase their skills.’
Nigeria will take on the winner of the match between Benin and Togo for a spot for next year’s CHAN which will take place in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
