Super Eagles defender Kenneth Omeruo has described Wednesday’s 1-0 win over Guinea as a morale booster to them.
Omeruo who scored Nigeria’s only goal of the match described the match as a very tough match
“The most important thing for us as a team is getting the victory and I am really pleased I could get on the score sheet. It was a very tough game because Guinea is not an easy team and getting victory against them is a huge motivation for us.”
The goal was Omeruo’s first ever goal for the Super Eagles and the Chelsea defender who was on loan last season to Spanish La Liga outfit Leganes admitted that it was a very ‘special moment that he won’t be in a hurry to forget’
” I am very happy to have finally scored for my country. As a center back you don’t really get a lot of goals and to get one today for my goal which turns out to be a winner is a very very special moment which I won’t be in a hurry to forget”
Wednesday’s victory ensured that Nigeria are through to the round of 16 with a match to spare.
