Some football stakeholders in the Nations capital have given their thoughts on their expectations and possible outcome of The most talked about round of 16 match involving The super eagles of Nigeria 🇳🇬 and the indomitable lions of Cameroon 🇨🇲.
Speaking first is SirCharles (Ogili) Musa, an Abuja Based Sport Journalist and Broadcaster.who affirmed that
To emerge the champion of any competition you must not only be the best, you must be ready to face the best sides and beat them to the trophy. Whether it comes in the group stage or at the last match. Or even all through the tournament, it doesn’t matter.
Meeting Cameroon 🇨🇲 now is not an excuse to return home. The Super Eagles 🦅 must brace up for what took them to Egypt.according to him
the indomitable lions are a high huddle to cross, but the Nigerian side can pull over.
Speaking further he said
Nigeria lost to Madagascar because they had already qualified. So, the coach used the match to try out his boys because he underrated them. Because he knows the Cameroonian side has been a long rival, he will keep the Nigerian pride. Though, they have put up a better performance than their Nigerian counterpart, they are not better than the super eagles.
SirCharles said he expects the match to be scary but Ganet Rhor tutored boys will put in their best. I expect the match may drag all the way down to 120 minutes or settles with a very slim margin during regulation time.
In his advice to the coach SirCharles said that He (Rohr) should know what is at stake. His line up should not be experimental. Rhor should start a very strong team because there may not time to recover if he begins poorly. Ahmed Musa is still in form. Chukwueze is also showing himself in this tournament. No need saving Ighalo for the last.
At the back: he must remember what happened at the last match. Defense must stop taking chances. Akpeyi has no reason to be nervous or lose focus.

Concluding he Said Nigerians know it is a taxing moment for the Super Eagles and wish that they do the nation proud. Stating that its unfortunate that one of the big guns of the competition has be going home this early. It should not be Nigeria.

Ugwu Simon on his part said
The game between the super eagles of Nigeria and the lions of Cameroon seems to be a final before finals. It would be a dicey encounter bearing in mind that it was Nigeria that was the encumbrance to Cameroon going to the world cup in Russia. Nigeria currently in the total African cup of nation lacks technical no how and seems to have dipped in form scoring 2 goals in 3 outings and winning 2out of 3. The Cameroonians on the other side have excelled on the other side. I think the game would be won from the youthful side of the team(Nigeria) I envisage a 2 0 victory for Nigeria.
In Another twist Christian Efe another sport analyst in The FCT said
The Super Eagles of Nigeria will need to put their doubt behind them if they must win there next match against the indomitable lions of Cameroon. Stating that The Nigeria national team, and 3 time winner of the Afcon must look pass their recent play failures and re ignite their scoring prowess.
Stating that the team has managed to score only 2 goals in thier Last 5 matches.
Stating that the team lacks creativity. But however he remained positive that with the Never say die spirit of the Nigerian team we sud be able to win Cameroon and affirm the statement that truly we are the giants of Africa

Awka Fans Offer Tips for Victory Over Cameroon

By Abuchi Onwumelu

Some soccer enthusiasts in Awka, the Anambra capital, have expressed confidence that the Super Eagles of Nigeria will soar above the Lions of Cameroon in their second round match in the ongoing African Cup of Nations (AFCON).

The fans said the Gornert Rohr-led technical crew must effect necessary changes, while the players must approach the game with “can do spirit’’ for them to advance beyond that stage.

Jude Atupulazi, an an Awka-based newspaper editor said all they needed was strong commitment which had been lacking in them.

Atupulazi said the Cameroonians were a strong team which required a Super Eagles side that is physically fit and mentally alert.

He recommended that Ahmed Musa should start the match as to keep the Cameroonians busy at their rear from the blast of the whistle.

“Let them show enough hunger, they should just jettison their big boy mentality and fight like wounded Lions.

“Mikel Obi is in his last legs as seen in matches he played, we need strength and mobility, and Mikel doesn’t offer that, we also need the combination of Musa and Odion Ighalo in front.

“The coach can also befuddle the opposition by playing Musa just behind the striker so as to speed up the attack and benefit from his pace and directness, while flanks can now be manned by Samuel Chukwueze and Samuel Kalu,” he said.

Abuchi Onwumelu, on his part said Nigeria had a rich history with Cameroon on the pitch of football and advised the bench to study the video of matches involving the two teams as there were lessons to learn from them.

Onwumelu said the lions were largely a physical side and recommended that Rohr should field the toughest players in the various departments of the team.

He said Musa should be made to start from the bench to run riot on Cameroonians who were likely to be tired in the second half.

“Let the coaching crew find out why we lost the final against Cameroon in 2000 and why we defeated them in Tunisia 2004.

“They should start from known to the unknown, the Lions of Cameroon as a team have maintained that pattern of play till date,” he said.

Onwumelu described Mikel as big match player who should be in the game while endorsing Akpeyi to man the goal post.

“Mikel is a big game player, he is still very important in the game and I am sure he will not disappoint.

“We are playing against highly physical team, we need to unleash skillful but physical players against them because they are likely to bulldoze their way into our 18 yard box.

“I will like to see team against Lions built around Wilfred Ndidi, Oghenekaro Etebo, Samuel Chukwueze, Moses Simon and Mikel in the midfield with Troost Ekong, Kenneth Emeruo , Olaoluwa Aina and Shehu Abdulahi (if fit) in the defense,” he said.

Also, Ikem Asika, an ace broadcaster, said comparatively, the Cameroonian Lions are better than their Nigerian counterparts and warned that Rhor should not take his experiments in the match against them.

Asika, a seasoned sports journalist, regretted that Rohr neglected the domestic league that is replete with players with raw energy and skill which would have made the game a walk over for Super Eagles.

He corroborated the views of Atupulazi and Onwumelu that there should not be big man mentality in the game and that only the fit should be fielded.

“The Cameroonians are the better side no doubt, my concern is that our manager Rohr should stop experimenting and field the players that are mentally and physically prepared for the match.
