Super Eagles forward Samuel Chukwueze has revealed that the team’s sole focus is to win the Africa Cup of Nations.
Chukwueze who was voted Man of the Match as the Super Eagles defeated South Africa 2-1 to book a dot in Sunday’s semi final revealed that he was never disappointed to sit on the bench in previous matches.
“I am happy for myself and for the team. We are here to win the title. Sitting on the bench doesn’t make me feel bad, I was simply waiting for my chance to help the team achieve it’s objective which is to win the trophy.”
The Villarreal forward who scored Nigeria’s first goal of the night in what was also his first International goal praised the team’s hardwork.
‘We worked so hard to be here. I’m very happy we are now in the semifinal. We were pushing hard to win this game and it was not easy.’
Nigeria defeated South Africa 2-1 in Cairo with goals in either half from Samuel Chukwueze and a late strike from William Troost Ekong and will now face the winner in the clash between Algeria and la Cote d’Ivoire.
The semifinal clash will take place on Sunday at 8 pm at the Cairo International Stadium.
