Ahead of Sunday’s much anticipated AFCON 2019 semi-final clash between Nigeria and Algeria, Super Eagles birthday boy Moses Simon has promised that the team will give their best.
Simon who revealed this on Saturday also expressed his satisfaction with his performance so far in the tournament.
“I am very happy and proud about my performance so far in the tournament. I worked so hard to make the team and I am happy about the victories so far”.
Moses Simon who plays his club football with Levante in the Spanish La Liga has made four appearances so far for the Super Eagles in the ongoing AFCON competition providing two assists which resulted in goals.
The first assist was against the Syli Nationale of Guinea which Kenneth Omeruo converted and the second in the match against the Bafana Bafana of South Africa where Troost Ekong scored the winning goal.
Simon revealed that he and his team mates had been training specially for corner kicks and expressed happiness that the trainings have paid off.
Set pierces are a very important part of the modern game and it’s something we have been working on and I am happy it’s beginning to pay off.
“As for Sunday all I can assure Nigerians is that we would give our best to come out victorious come Sunday and make our country proud “.
The Super Eagles will be aiming to qualify for its 1st AFCON final since 2013 when they take on Algeria on Sunday at the Cairo International Stadium. Kickoff is 8pm (GMT+1).
