Super Eagles and Arsenal forward Alexander Chukwuka Iwobi has revealed his long standing desire to win something with the Super Eagles.

Iwobi who was looking ahead of Sunday’s semi-final clash between Nigeria and Algeria started by accessing the tournament so far.

‘The competition is very good from the technical aspect and we saw many surprises as the premature exit of big guns like Egypt and Morocco. For us we have great confidence in ourselves to go till the very end and I believe we can make a great feat for ourselves and our country.’ Iwobi told Diegwusports.com

The tournament so far has seen a lot of upsets but the ‘Star Boy’ like Iwobi is known among Nigerian teenagers has revealed that the team has done great in remaining focus up to this point.

“Actually it was sad to see big teams leaving, especially hosts Egypt. It’s disappointing for the supporters and the team that has many talented players. But we are not thinking this way. We have to focus on ourselves and give our best. We are confident we can go far and make Nigeria proud.”

The Arsenal forward is appearing in his 1st AFCON and has so far scored one goal against Cameroon in the Round of 16. However Iwobi is dreaming big on what he wants to achieve with the Super Eagles.

‘For long time now I’ve been dreaming of winning this very important title with my team. I hope we can achieve this year’s edition and even if we didn’t do that this time we can achieve more in the future because we are a young team that includes many talents who have a brilliant future. I’m positive we can do something great together in the coming years.’

The Super Eagles will be aiming to qualify for its 1st AFCON final since 2013 when they take on Algeria on Sunday at the Cairo International Stadium. Kickoff is 8pm (GMT+1).
