SESS2019: 17 Teams Confirm Participation

DiegwuSports can exclusively confirm that no fewer than seventeen teams including Rivers United, Abia Warriors and Delta Force have all confirmed their participation at the upcoming 2019 South East South South Pre-Season Tournament to be held in Nanka.

Speaking to DiegwuSports on Thursday, the Chairman of the Local Organizing committee and Member of Main Organizing Committee Mr. Akonam Obiefuna, also disclosed that inquires have been made by Warri Wolves, Enugu Rangers and Heartland FC with the mentioned clubs promising to reply in the coming days whether they will participate of not.

According to Mr Obiefuna, the organizing committee of the tournament is more than satisfied with the response they are getting at the moment.

‘At the moment we have 15 clubs who have confirmed that they will be participating at this year’s tournament. These clubs include three NPFL club sides namely, Delta Force, Rivers United and Abia Warriors.

‘Rangers International have also made an inquiry as well as Heartland and Warri Wolves. They all promised to give us a feedback on their participation in the coming days’ Mr. Obiefuna told DiegwuSports.

This year’s tournament will be taking place in the football loving town of Nanka in what will be the second edition to be hosted by Anambra State after the maiden edition of SESS Tournament was hosted by Nnewi. Organizers are are expecting more teams to indicate interest before the commencement of the tournament.

‘Our initial target was 20. We may hit up to that. This goes to show that this tournament is one if the leading Pre-season tournaments in Nigeria.’

This is the third edition of the tournament with previous winners being FC Ifeanyi Ubah in 2017 and Cynosure in 2018.
