Fresh from concluding it Pre-season camping at the football loving town of Nanka, Rangers International head coach Benedict Ugwu has disclosed that his side is ready to face it’s opponents in the CAF Confederation Cup.
The Nigeria Proffesional Football League giants make their entry into this season’s tournament when they face Gabonese side, A.S Pelican at Libreville.
Coach Ugwu while speaking to DiegwuSports revealed that his players are excited going into the fixture.
“We are excited going into the fixture. We are ready and we have prepared well for the tie. God willing we will get the required result over there at Libreville” Ugwu to DiegwuSports.
The Flying Antelopes on Sunday after afternoon defeated local amateur side Nanka XI 3-0 at the NEROS Sports Stadium Nanka in a match where coach Ugwu featured mostly new signings.
Ugwu himself a former Rangers great believes that the aim for Rangers is the aim going into this year’s tournament is to do better than last sreason.
“Obviously we want to do well this season. We want to do better than last season and as you can see the club has done the best it can starting by recruiting some new players. Hopefully it pays off during the tournament.”
Rangers will be playing in the CAF Confederation in successive seasons for the 1st time in many years after coming third in the post season Playoff tournament.
The team is expected to arrive Libreville on Thursday evening while the match is fixed for Saturday, September 14, 2019 at Stade D’Angondje, Libraville.
