Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) joint top scorer for 2018-2019 season, Ibrahim Sunusi, has ruled out a departure from Nasarawa United after describing reports suggesting he would be leaving for another team before the commencement of the 2019/20 campaign as ‘Not True’.
In an interview with news outlet GOAL Sunusi disclosed that moving away from Nasarawa United was not on his mind right now.
“No, it is not true, I am staying with Nasarawa United at least, for now, this is my state club and I am happy there,” Sunisi told Goal.
“Right now, I am working hard to see that I improve on what I achieved last season and by God’s grace I believe I would do better “
Sunusi scored 10 times last season in the NPFL for Nasarawa United who finished three points outside the last Championship playoff spot.
“We tried our best last season but we could not make it to the Super Six, we are going to work harder this upcoming season, hopefully, we have better things than we did last time” Sunusi who recently featured for the Nigeria U23s added.
Sanusi’s performance earned him a spot in the U23 national where he played a starring role as Nigeria thrashed Sudan 5-1 on aggregate to earn a spot in the CAF U23 AFCON.
He is also expected to take part in this weekend’s CHAN qualifiers as Nigeria face Togo in Lome.
