Super Eagles and Villarreal Winger, Samuel Chukwueze has insisted that the best is yet to come from the current squad of the national team.
‘We never panicked. We knew we had what it takes to overturn the early goal, we just stayed calm and played our natural game.
‘It was a little difficult at 1st because of the pitch but once we got our rythm, we got better as the games progressed.’ Chukwueze told DiegwuSports
Nigeria went a goal down with Masuaku scoring for Lesotho but four consecutive goals by Alex Iwobi, Samuel Chukwueze and Victor Osimhen (brace) ensured that the Super Eagles remained unbeaten since the end of the AFCON.
Chukwueze believes that the team unity and brotherliness is the secret behind the mental strength in recent matches.
‘I think we see each other as brothers. We are always looking after each other on and off the pitch. This helps us also on the pitch especially in matches. We never give up.
‘Talent wise we are also very talented and I think the best is yet to come from us. We will keep improving. Hopefully it will also pay off on the pitch.’
Nigeria sit top of its qualifying group for the 2021 African Cup of Nations after winning it’s opening two matches against Benin (2-1) and Lesotho.
