Despite the 2-0 victory over Katsina United on Sunday, Rivers United head coach Stanley Eguma has urged on his players to more clinical in front of goal.
Eguma while speaking to DiegwuSports after the match praised his side for playing well but insisted that the team is far from being at its best.
“Today we were able to score two goals, and also played well but i think its not yet time to celebrate. The players need to know that we need to score more goals.
“They need to be clinical infront of goal because this is a game of football and if we don’t score goals it will liook as if we didn’t do enough.
Rivers United cruised to an easy routine 2-0 win over Katsina United thanks to goals from Michael Gopey and Ishaq Rafiu in either side of the half.
Gopey’s fabulous strike in the fifth minute set the tone for a dominant and powerful first half display from the hosts who could have added three more, at the very least, in a largely one-sided first half in which the visitors failed to muster a single shot on target.
United continued to dominate in the second half and it was only a matter of time before consistent pressure led to a second goal by the impressive Ishaq who finished off impressively in the 75th minute.
