Nigeria champions Enyimba FC will face Horoya FC of Guinea in the quarter finals of the CAF Confederations Cup after both teams were paired together in the the draw held in Cairo on Wednesday.
As expected Enyimba were expected to get a tough draw after finishing second in the group behind Husseinir Agadir but it is obviously the best draw for the People’s Elephant who have avoided the remaining North African sides in the competition.
The 1st leg of the quarter final tie will take place on March 1 at the Enyimba International Stadium while the return leg will take place in Conakry on March 8.
This will be the 1st ever meeting between both clubs and one can say both clubs are more than happy to get each other in the draw.
This is so as both clubs are currently not at their best in their respective domestic scenes. Enyimba are currently 16th on the NPFL table while Horoya are 5th on the Ligue 1 table although both sides have outstanding matches.
It will definitely be a match up to watch and will be a very good test for Enyimba who are back in confidence after gaining a morale boosting win last Sunday when it thrashed Ivorian side San Pedro 5-2.
Quarter Final draws:
Zanaco v Pyramids
Al Nasr v Hassania Agadir
Al Masry v RS Berkane
Enyimba v Horoya
1st leg: March 1
2nd Leg: March 8
Meanwhile, Enyimba won its 1st NPFL match in 8 attempts after beating MFM FC 1-0 in Lagos.
Abdulrahman Bashir scored the only goal of the match in the 75th minute as Enyimba returned to wining way.
The win takes Enyimba off the relegation zone with five outstanding matches.
