Lobi edge Rangers to go four points clear

Lobi stars Fc are now four points clear at the top of the NPFL table after defeating Rangers International of Enugu 1-0 on Sunday in Makurdi.

The all important goal was scored by Super Eagles’ striker Anthony Okputu.

Lobi’s win means that Rangers’ unbeaten run of five matches has now come to an end.

In Nnewi, it was a historic day as FC Ifeanyi Ubah lost for the 1st time at the FC Ifeanyi Ubah stadium since they returned to the top flight division losing 2-1 to visiting Niger Tornadoes.

Mubarak Ejiogu gave Tornadoes the lead in the 72nd minutes but Godwin Obaje equalized from the penalty spot in the 90th minute but there was to be a late drama as Bashir Usman snatched all three points for Tornadoes in the 94th minute.

The win lifts Niger Tornadoes to 4th on the table while FC Ifeanyi Ubah are 11th.

Kano Pillars are back to 2nd on the table after holding Nasarawa United to a goaless draw in at the Lafia township Stadium.

In Port Harcourt, Rivers United edged Plateau United 1-0 in an ill tempered encounter that saw both teams reduced to ten men just before half time.

Osita Henry Chikere scored the goal for Rivers United who move to sixth with the win while Plateau United slip down to 3rd.

NPFL MD22 table

Katsina United continue their good home form with a 1-0 win over Sunshine Stars with Tasiu Lawal scoring the goal.

In Illorin, Kwara United has a thirst of victory after defeating MFM FC 3-1 at the Kwara Sports Complex.

Segun Alebiosu gave United the lead in the 16th minute but the lead lasted just 10 minutes as Sikiru Olatunbosun equalized in the 27th minute.

However, the home side re-took the lead in the 48th minute through Stephen Alfred while Sunday Odudu sealed all three points for Kwara United with his goal in the 75th minute.
