Federation de International Football Association (FIFA) has approved the Stephen Okechukwu Keshi Stadium for the upcoming International friendly between the Super Eagles of Nigeria and the Cranes of Uganda in Asaba.
Following the approval from FIFA, the stadium will now officially host its first international match which would be between the Nigerian Super Eagles and Ugandan Cranes.
The Stephen Keshi Stadium hosted the final of the Federation Cup between Rangers International and Kano Pillars last October as well as the 2018 Senior Athletics Championships in August. The venue will also host the upcoming Super Cup between Lobi Stars and Rangers International as well as the 2018 NNL Super 8.
The last time The Super Eagles faced the Cranes was at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo where the Super Eagles were victorious by a lone goal and Vincent Enyeama was in goal and captained the Super Eagles for that encounter.
Ahead of the match, Delta State governor Ifeanyi Okowa has promised the Super Eagles $25000 per goal scored against South Africa in Saturday’s AFCON Qualifiers in Johannesburg where Nigeria need just a point to qualify.
