Dennerby pleased with ‘Champion’s response’

Super Falcons head coach Thomas Dennerby has expressed satisfaction with his team’s performance in Tuesday’s 4-0 win over Zambia, describing it as ‘champions response’.

Dennerby who spoke to Diegwusports after the match in Cape Coast revealed that the team had a heart to heart talk after the opening defeat to South Africa which he he thinks paid off against Zambia.

‘It was difficult after the 1st match which we lost, we had to talk to each other, heart to heart. Tactical wise we also had to switch a few things but above we raised our game. A champions response. In all am happy with today’s performance’

Dennerby whilst praising the performance of the team on the day admitted that the team is not yet at the level they should be. However, he is confident the team will get better as the tournament progresses.

‘Yes, we are not yet at the level we should be but we will try to get better as the tournament goes on.’

The former Sweden coach went on to urge his team to focus on getting the necessary result against Equatorial Guinea to ensure a passage into the semi-final.

‘We must refocus because we have Equatorial Guinea coming up. We still have to qualify for the semifinals and that match is an important one’
