Aspire FC Adazi-Ani on Sunday, April 28, 2019 defeated the four-time champions FC Ifeanyi Uba in the just concluded Anambra FA Cup tournament.
The final match which took place at the Neros Stadium Nanka saw the youngest club in Anambra State beat FC Ifeanyi Uba in a penalty shoot out with four goals after, playing one goal draw in Ninety minutes.
Aspire FC Adazi-Ani which was registered in December 2018 and just participated in their first ever tournament displayed tremendous tactical skills and physical fitness through out the tournament. The players showed up for every game ready to win and they never lost to any of their opponents.
In his reaction shortly after their victory, the founder and President of the Aspire FC, Dr. Emeka Okeke who is also the CEO of RISE Clinic Adazi-Ani, thanked Ndi Anambra for the opportunity given to the club, that has enabled them showcase their talents as a club. He thanked Dr. Poly Emenike, Chairman, Neros Pharmaceuticals and the sponsor of Neros Anambra State FA Cup for his contribution towards football in the State.
Dr. Okeke stated categorically that under his watch, Aspire FC has come to re-write the history of football in Nigeria. He promised to work closely with Anambra State FA and other football lovers in the State to promote standards of play and player welfare. Furthermore, he called on Ndi Anambra to be on the lookout and support the team with necessary backings, expressing joy over the remarkable performance of his players.
On his part, the international trained Coach, Coach Eze Mike Nwaka expressed gratitude to God for a wonderful start and promised that the club will witness great transformation in years to come.
Highpoints of the match was the presentation of medals to players and official handover of the trophy to Aspire FC Adazi-Ani and celebration by players.
