Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rhor believes that the team will get better as the tournament progresses.
Speaking after Nigeria’s narrow 1-0 victory over West Africa foes Guinea, Rhor is confident that the team will score more goals as the tournament progresses.
“As you know our 1st two games were against tricky opponents who were out to impress against us. It’s not always easy but we are happy we have scaled through. I think from here onwards the team will play with more freedom and I am confident the goals will come”
On the match itself, Rhor expressed his satisfaction with the performance of the team
“It was a good performance from the team today, we played really well though it was a tough game from Guinea. I am happy we could deal with the danger they posed and being the first into the round of 16 is a joy for us.
“Now we have to ensure we finish off well against Madagascar in our last game to top the pool.”
Nigeria defeated Guinea 1-0 thanks to a second half goal from center back Kenneth Omeruo. A result that means that the Super Eagles are through to the next round with a game to spare but head coach Gernot Rhor was adamant to confirm whether he will rotate his squad for the next match against Madagascar on Sunday.
“It’s a possibility but at this moment what is the important is to keep the winning momentum. We will sit down and analyze what is best for the team and we will select the best players that will help us get a positive result against Madagascar.”
