European Champions Liverpool FC have confirmed that Nigeria forward Tawio Awoniyi has been loaned to German side, FSV Mainz for the 2019-2020 season
The striker will remain with Jürgen Klopp’s former club for the duration of the 2019-20 campaign after the transfer was agreed on Tuesday.
“✍️ We have agreed a deal to sign Taiwo Awoniyi on loan from @LFC for this season, subject to international clearance and a medical,”reads a tweet on the club’s official Twitter handle on Tuesday.
Awoniyi joined Liverpool in August 2015 for a fee of around £400,000 but is yet to play an official game for the current European champions.
The 21-year -old previous loan spells were with German second-tier club FSV Frankfurt and Dutch side, NEC Nijmegen.
He also had stints with Belgian clubs, KAA Gent and Royal Excel Mouscron (twice).
He is currently a member of the Nigeria’s U-23 side.
