Nigeria Professional Football League Giants Rangers International FC have confirmed that it will go on an eight day closed door Pre-season camping from the 2nd to the 7th of September 2019.
This year’s pre-season camp will hold at the football loving town of Nanka with Rangers holding their training sessions at the NEROS Sports Stadium.
A source very close to the club confirmed to DiegwuSports that Rangers will use the camping to prepare intensively for the CAF Confederation Cup 1st Round tie which comes up later in September.
‘Yes, I can confirm that we are coming to Nanka. We are going to use this camping to intensify our preparations for the CAF Confederation Cup. Last season we got to the group stages and we are looking to do the same again this year or better.’ The source told DiegwuSports.
When asked on the choice of Nanka, the source simply said:
‘The history between Nanka and Rangers goes way back to over 40 years. We have a great bond between us. We [Rangers] can proudly say Nanka is our second home.
‘We wanted somewhere we will get our privacy but at the same time feel very much at home. Nanka gives us that and we need these conditions to be in perfect shape for the CAF Confederation Cup and also the NPFL.’
Rangers will this weekend take on Warri Wolves F.C at the Warri city stadium in another pre-season friendly encounter from where it heads to Neros stadium, Nanka in Anambra state for a week long close camping exercise
DiegwuSports understands that the Flying Antelopes are expected to play at least two friendly matches during the camping.
Recall that the Total/CAF Confederation cup 2019/2020 hopefuls will kick start their campaign for continental honors in the weekend of 13/14/15 of September, 2019 with a road trip to Gabonese side, A.S Pelicans who stopped the ambitions of D.R Congo side, A.S Meniama Union in the preliminary round.
