‘As a kid, Brazil were like the dream team. They have produced so many great players that have served as role models to me. Players such as Rivaldo, Ronaldo, Kala and so on. Just thinking of the fact that I might be facing such a great nation makes me give God the glory. I am really looking forward to the clash’ Chukwuze told DiegwuSports.
Chukwueze who has ten caps and a goal so far for Nigeria and played a key role as Nigeria finished third at the 2019 AFCON in Egypt went on to thank the Nigeria Football Federation for organizing such a high class friendly.
The Umuahia born player believes that the experience and exposure acquired from such matches will go a long way in helping the Super Eagles do better at major tournaments.
“Once again, the Federation is doing what they can to get us exposure by giving us good friendlies. First it was Ukraine, now Brazil. It’s a good step. The team will surely get better and I am sure that it will soon reflect in our performances at major tournaments and crucial qualifiers. I really commend the leadership of the NFF.”
So far this season, Chukwueze has played six matches [starting four] for his club Villarreal scoring twice [two assists] and the Valencia based club are in the top 10. However, the pacy winger is not getting carried away insisting that the team still has a lot of progress to make.
‘So far, I thank God with the manner the season is going. Not only for me but for the whole team. We are improving but we are not getting carried away because one bad result and you lose touch. So we have to keep improving and above all try to be consistent.
Villareal defeated Real Betis 5-1 on Friday with Chukwueze scoring one of the goals.
