NPFL 20: Plateau Remain Top As Enyimba Taste Defeat

Plateau United moved one point clear at the top of the NPFL after snatching a draw at Nasarawa on a day Champions Enyimba tasted defeated for the 1st time at the hands of Sunshine Stars.

Once again it proved to be another goal scoring match day as goals were scored in all but one venue on Wednesday with four coming in Bauchi were Wikki Tourists made light work of Delta Force.

Nasarawa United 1-1 Plateau United – United Remain Unbeaten

It might only be four matches into the new season but Plateau United are looking like a team made of champions stuff as they came from a goal down against Nasarawa United to rescue a point with the match ending 1-1.

Abdullahi Yusuf gave Nasarawa the lead just before half time but Ibrahim Mustapha equalized for Plateau just after the break.

However, Plateau will be pleased that it got something out of the match considering how poor it played. This point away from home might prove to be crucial come the end of the season. The draw also means that they are still unbeaten in the NPFL.

Lobi 3-0 Heartland – Heartland In Deep Waters

Lobi Stars secured an emphatic 3-0 win over Heartland FC and moved up to 2nd on the log, heaping more early season misery on sleeping giants Heartland.

Three 1st half goals from Abdul Mahmud, Sikuru Alimi and John Lazarus was all the Pride of Venue needed for this famous win.

The only stain in the win is the sending off of Super Eagles defender Adeleye Olamilekan.

Sunshine 1-0 Enyimba – Unbeaten Run Ends for the Champions

Enyimba’s six match unbeaten run in the NPFL came to an end as it suffered a 1-0 loss to Sunshine Stars thanks to an early goal by Anthony Omale in Akure.

Enyimba whose unbeaten run stretched back to last season’s post season playoffs looked a shadow of themselves and failed to create any decent effort. As for Sunshine, they finally have their 1st win of the season.

Elsewhere, Rivers United finally got it’s 1st win of the season after a 2-1 win over 2016 champions Rangers International.

Bamba Bakari and Malachi Ohamuwa scored for Rivers United while Ibrahim Olawoyin got the goal for Rangers.
