Nigeria Professional Football League NPFL side Rangers International of Enugu are set to appoint former Super Eagles assistant coach Salisu Yussuf as its new technical adviser with an official announcement imminent.
DiegwuSports understands that the former Enyimba gaffer arrived Enugu on Tuesday together with Mbwas Mangut [who is also expected to be appointed as Head Coach] and has been in negotiations with the club hierarchy with an agreement being reached on Tuesday evening.
A source close to the club said:
“We have concluded plans to hire both Salisu Yusuf and Mbwas Mangut as Technical Adviser and Chief Coach.
“Plans are also ongoing to have them unveiled in the next 24 hours, as time is of the essence, considering the tasks ahead,”
Salisu Yusuf, who has been undergoing a refresher training program with a top European club, has been contacted, according to the source, while Mbwas Mangut who before now has been occupying the top job at Delta Force FC
“Both coaches have been contacted, and they showed interest in taking up the assignment,” the source concluded.
Salisu Yussuf’s last job was with the National team as he was the head coach of the Super Eagles and also in charge of the Super Eagles B team as they won silver at the 2018 CHAN.
However, he was disgraced from office after being found guilty of collecting bribes in exchange of selecting players. He served a one year CAF ban which ended a few months ago with the NFF going against reinstating him to his post as chief coach of the Super Eagles.
The Flying Antelopes will face Egyptian side, Pyramid City FC this weekend in their first group stage match of the CAF Confederation Cup.
