Rangers International F.C has have appointed former Super Eagles chief coach, Salisu Yusuf as the new head coach.
Coach Salisu who was introduced to players of the CAF Confederation cup 2019/2020 hopefuls after their afternoon training session, by the General Manager, Prince Davidson Owumi in the presence of Enugu state Youth & Sports commissioner, Hon. Vitus Okechi and other club officials, was full of optimism handling the task thrown at him by his employers and supporters of Rangers International F.C.
The chief coach of the senior national team, Super Eagles was introduced to the players with former Delta Force F.C gaffer, Mbwas Mangut who will be assisting the former Enyimba and Kano Pillars manager on the task of putting smiles back on the faces of the millions of fans all over the world after three straight defeats in the NPFL led to the suspension of the Benedict Ugwu led technical crew, Sunday.
“I am here on a technical assistance because the team, Rangers International F.C, is representing the country in the CAF Confederation cup and circumstances on the ground led to the federation assigning me here. I am always positive. We want to take the team to the next level from where they are now. We know it is not going to be easy. We need to change some things but is going to be a gradual process,” stated the much traveled gaffer.
On his immediate task which is the first game of the group stage of the second tier continental club competition against 2018/2019 Egyptian cup winners, Pyramids F.C, Salisu said, “Positively, we are hoping for a better result. We are going to work very hard in the next two days to see where to improve the team but not necessarily making so many changes.”
Speaking at the event, commissioner for Youth & Sports, Enugu state, Honorable Vitus Okechi, said, “We are indeed glad to have Salisu Yusuf here to handle the team. We have good players on ground but the problem was the technical leadership and we know that with the man on ground now, we will be able to move the team forward. The NFF called us after last Sunday NPFL loss in Enugu and their interest in seeing that Rangers goes as far as the final of CAF Confederation cup offered to give us technical assistance by sending a the Super Eagles chief coach.”
Coach Salisu and his assistant will begin preparation for the weekend’ continental clash on Thursday morning for the encounter slated for Sunday, December 1, 2019 inside the main bowl of Nnamdi Azikiwe stadium, Ogui road, Enugu with kickoff fixed for 2.00pm.
