DiegwuSports can exclusively confirm that NPFL side Heartland FC paid its players double bonus fees following the Match day 7 1-0 win over Plateau United.
In an exclusive chat with DiegwuSports Mr. Solomon Onu who is club media director revealed that in addition to the normal home win bonus which the players normally get, the club chairman Charles Ezekwem paid the team an away bonus as a gesture to reward them for the effort they have put in place to win the high profile match again league leaders Plateau United.
“I can confirm to you that the boys received an extra away bonus on Sunday following their win over Plateau United courtesy of our able club chairman Charles Ezekwem.
“No one was expecting such. The chairman just went into the dressing room and shared the money to the players in cash” Mr. Onu told DiegwuSports
In addition to the extra bonus, Mr. Onu also told DiegwuSports that the players also received cash motivation of one hundred thousand Naira (N100,000) from the sporting director, Ifeanyi Ekwueme who was also very impressed with the performance of the team.
The club media director Mr. Onu also said that the players were excited by the development and promised to do their best to maintain the good performance.
“The players were very surprised and happy by the gesture and they also promised that they will do their best to repay the love which the chairman has showed on them.”
Heartland are currently 13th on the log with 8 points from seven matches and will be travelling to Ilorin on Sunday to Kwara United Mr. Onu believes the Naze Millionaires can get a positive result.
“I can tell you the mood in camp is very positive. We want to build on that win against Plateau United and we will be going into the match with a mission to win.
“Obviously, it’s not going to be easy but if we can play the way we did against Plateau United then we can get the win.”
