Abia Warriors have sacked head coach Emmanuel Deutsch following recent poor performances in the ongoing Nigeria professional football League, particularly after the team lost scandalously to Enyimba FC in the matchday 20 game played at the Okigwe Township stadium on Monday.
In a press statement signed by the Club’s Secretary, Mr. Esiaba Ebere, Abia Warriors sacked head coach Emmanuel Deutch for losing three matches in a row and conceding nine goals in the process which according to them ‘does not portray the qualities of an ambitious team’
Deutch was in his second spell at the club after being in charge of the team in the 2018 season with the club in 8th position before the league was suspended following the NFF post-world cup crises.
He then went on to take charge of Delta Force but his stay with the Asaba based club was caught short as he rejoined Abia Warriors on a rescue mission in the same season.
Deutch managed to save Abia Warriors from relegation in the 2019 season and was handed a two-year contract going into this season.
Abia Warriors in this season have been very inconsistent with results getting worst in recent games.
Deutch’s final match was on Monday as Abia Warriors suffered a humiliating 4-1 defeat to reigning champions Enyimba.
Stanley Dimgba kept his feet on the pedals of his fine scoring form, controlling Cyril Olisema’s chipped pass to send in a low strike and give Enyimba the lead four minutes before the interval.
Three minutes later, youngster Anayo Iwuala spearheaded a swift break to set up Victor Mbaoma, who picked his spot from the edge of the box, handing Fatai Osho’s side a two-goal lead at the break.
The visitors were made to weather sustained pressure at the restart – with Timothy Danladi and Abiodun Adebayo holding strong at center-back – but looked lethal on the break, and it was from one of such that Iwuala squashed hopes of a comeback when he finished off Olisema’s exquisite pass for his first goal since joining the People’s Elephant this season.
Dimgba then netted his brace six minutes later with a calm finish from Dare Olatunji’s long ball.
Yakub Hammed pulled one back for the hosts, but it proved too little to put any dent on Enyimba’s fourth straight league win.
The statement directed the Cameroonian born gaffer to hand over the club properties in his possession to the Secretary and wished him the very best of luck in his future endeavor.
Meanwhile, the Chief Coach of the club, Willy Udube has been directed by the Management to take over the affairs of the team in an interim capacity.
